TherapyAs a past student and trainee counsellor, I have a particular interest in working with trainee therapists, students and those who work within education. Please visit my ‘Supporting Students’ page
  • How I work…Person centred therapy enables you to feel seen and heard by offering a space which is led by you. With this approach, I can support you in finding the answers within yourself, as I believe you are the expert of your life. Person centred therapy enables us to shine a light on you, at a pace that’s comfortable for you. Sessions are open ended; therefore, we can reflect together throughout the process how you feel you’re moving forward. I often work with clients with a timed ending, as this can sometimes feel less abrupt, especially if you struggle with endings.
  • Where I work…I work remotely online from my therapy space at home in Sheffield. I too enjoy the comfort of my personal surroundings, and I feel that this adds to our sessions in a positive way. I often like to have a cuppa with me and you’re welcome to bring a brew to our sessions too!
  • Who I work with…I work with individuals over the age of 18. The clients I tend to work with are younger women who have low self-worth and struggle to truly find themselves and what brings joy to their lives. They find it difficult to accept where they’re currently at, which can bring on feelings of loneliness and frustration.
Support in 3 steps....
Step 1
Contact:Once you’ve made initial contact, I offer a free 30-minute video/phone introduction – here I can better understand your needs, if you have any worries or concerns about the process and how we could therapeutically work together.
Step 2
First 50-minute session:Here we will go through our contract together and explore any questions you might have about the process. It is your time to use and I’m here to go at your pace, guided by you.
Step 3
Continual weekly sessions:Once we have agreed a regular time and day for our sessions, we can schedule these weekly and check in with each other throughout the process to see how you’re feeling. Some clients then move onto fortnightly sessions and gently extend the breaks in between, which can also support individual resilience.
Why therapy? As a person-centred counsellor, I work empathically with a non-judgemental approach. I will have unconditional positive regard for you, whilst being honest and transparent throughout the process. I will accept you as you are whole heartedly, have respect for you and show you the kindness you deserve.
Accepted as you are
Working closely with me can allow you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself. During our sessions together, you will have the opportunity to express yourself in ways which feel comfortable and safe for you.
Deeper sense of self
By developing our therapeutic relationship, you can move forward in ways which feel meaningful for you. We can explore together the tools which feel most helpful for you, to be able to manage better with issues you might be finding difficult.
Improved relationships and communication
Counselling can provide opportunities for you to grow in confidence and understand your self-worth. This can have a positive impact on the relationships you have with others and improve how you communicate and set boundaries.
“I am so grateful to have had counselling sessions with Sarah. I was feeling stuck in a situation, and she helped me to explore my feelings without judgement. She is a really attentive listener, and you can tell she really does care about what you have to say. She radiates warmth and empathy. Our sessions have helped me beyond measure.“
